Long life, Comrades!
I come from Indonesia, a country in Southeast Asia. Currently, my country has a population of 275 million people. The country with the 5th largest population in the world. My country once had a communist party with a very large number of members and is often referred as the 3rd largest communist party in the world after the Communist Party of the Soviet Union and the Chinese Communist Party.
Comrades,
First of all, I would like to thank the organizing committee for the opportunity given to me to participate in this event and to express my opinion in front of all of you.
I will share a tragic story about something that once happened to the 3rd largest communist party in the world. In sum, this party has developed very well since its founding in 1920. During its 45 years journey, this party experienced its glory in 1965, which was also the year of its downfall. During its existence, this party has collapsed four times, beaten by Western imperialism. Fall and get up again. Hit again, fall again and get up again. And finally, it had to be completely destroyed in 1965. In that year the destruction was extraordinary, along with the overthrow of our president, Soekarno. Many observers and researchers believe that at least 700-800 thousand people died, 12 thousand people were exiled to a remote island, namely Buru Island. More than one million people were imprisoned throughout the country. More than 1,000 people became exiles in many European and Latin American countries, and were unable to return to their homeland. Also, the emergence of laws and regulations against the descendants of people of the Left movement for almost 20 years. All of this is almost without a judicial process. This is the biggest crime against humanity that has ever happened in modern human history, after what the Nazis did in World War II and the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia. A genocide.
Comrades,
The first destruction of this party occurred in 1926. The Dutch colonial government destroyed the Left movement in Indonesia because of the massive resistance and demonstrations by the railroad and maritime/dock workers. About 20 thousand people were arrested and imprisoned, 1300 people were exiled to Boven Digul, and hundreds of people were killed. The 2nd destruction of this parties occurred in 1935, which was a continuation of the first destruction in 1926, for nearly 20 years they had to carry out an underground movement because of the extraordinary repression by the Dutch colonial government. Leftist activists at that time were not afraid and did not stop, but instead produced young cadres who later contributed greatly to carry on the Proclamation of Indonesian Independence in 1945.
The third destruction occurred in 1948. The imperialist countries (USA, Britain and the Netherlands) succeeded in provoking several government elites and local military groups, who accused the Indonesian Communist Party of preparing forces to carry out a rebellion and form a communist state. These accusations and slander moved the domestic military to carry out the annihilation of the Left movement. About 20 thousand communists were arrested and imprisoned. Thousands of people were killed and banished. This destruction was very severe. We were fortunate that our president at that time, Soekarno, began to see that the Left movement was actually very supportive of his ideas against imperialism. In the following years, President Soekarno gave this party the opportunity to revive and become his loyal supporter.
Since the mid-1950s, President Soekarno has increasingly seen the dangers of neo-colonialism and neo-imperialism. In his many speeches in front of the Indonesian people, he always warned that the end of World War II would not stop the imperialist countries’ efforts to invade, attack, destroy, plunder, and control other nations with or without armed force. Sometimes they trap and coerce by means of cruel and greedy debt payments. All that is happening in our country, even until now. I believe this is also the case in many developing and weak countries.
Comrades,
But it’s not over yet. In 1965 a huge humanitarian disaster occurred in our country. The imperialist countries, through their local military assistance, overthrew the head of state. The Indonesian Communist Party (PKI), as its main supporter, was disbanded. Members of this party were chased, imprisoned, banished and killed. This incident has been spotted by international forums for more than 50 years. One of the biggest genocides in the world which was clearly orchestrated by imperialist countries.
Comrades,
It is clear to us that imperialism has never stop to disturb, attack, control and plunder other nations and countries. They do not always execute this by armed force, but by infiltrating ideology, using economic power, and undermining social and cultural structures. In general, these methods always end in cruelty, poverty, and destruction. This is certainly contrary to the human nature to live together in peace, equality and mutual prosperity. Obviously, humans should not be predators of other humans. The entire natural sources of the earth must be used together fairly and evenly. Attempts to plunder, control unilaterally in any way must be prevented. Must be fought. Must become a common enemy. The transformation of the world order in terms of political influence, economic power, and military has changed a lot in the last 25 years. The world community is increasingly seeing and realizing who is the culprit. Who is the real enemy of the world?
After more than 70 years the universe has shown us all the ugly, greedy and ruthless face of imperialism. Everything must end. The world must change. Believe me, that the universe, human instincts, and the noble values of the earth, actually never expected them to exist. The universe is giving us opportunities, activists of the Left movement, to be able to do more, in order to create a new better world.
Have a good fight, Comrades!
Stay solid and do your best
