From the Balkans, Greece, we at “Platform for independence” greeted with enthusiasm and relief the establishment of the World Anti-Imperialist Platform in Paris. We followed the developments of the next event in Belgrade with great interest and hosted the subsequent World Anti-Imperialist Platform event in Athens. We also read with great interest the Declaration of the (17) participants in the 22nd International Meeting of the Communist and Workers’ Parties in Havana, in October 2022.
And now here we are, in the land of Bolivar and Chávez, in the great home for anti-imperialists from around the world.For years, the Bolivarian Government and the constitutional President Nicolás Maduro, the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) and the Great Patriotic Pole (GPP), have been devoting effort and resources to coordinating and organizing the anti-imperialist forces of the whole world. We were fortunate to attend through our country’s solidarity organizations two of the international meetings held in Caracas, The International Anti-Imperialist Meeting in January 2020 and the 200-year Congress (of the country’s Independence) in January 2021.
And there were other meetings held, these were not the only ones. Although the soul of the anti-imperialist struggle is on the battlefields in Ukraine, the heart of the anti-imperialist movement has been beating for many years in Caracas. Thus, we can say that today we are in our natural space.Thank you Bolivarian Venezuela!
ComradesIn the Balkans, the term “Balkanization”* was born, which defined our countries and our social movements. Moreover, virtually none of our countries have achieved or maintained their national independence. Practically, we are fighting for our Second Independence (like most of the countries of “Our America”) which the empire has stolen from us by imposing its rule through vassal governments and the criminal organization of NATO.Our country gained its national independence in 1827 after a Revolution against the Ottoman Empire. With the exception of its first governor, Ioannis Kapodistrias, who was a former Russian diplomat and was assassinated, the country’s dependence on the big powers began then and continues to this day.
There are large NATO bases on the territory of Greece, for example in Alexandroupoli, a border town, and in the port of Souda on the island of Crete. Practically the entire political and military apparatus is integrated through NATO into the service of the USA. The US ambassador in Athens is the real prime minister of the country.
Moreover, as shown in the last NATO-Russian war in Ukraine, all the political parties in the country are pro-NATO, either directly or through the supposed neutrality and “equal distances” policy from the belligerents.However, despite the total pro-NATO scenery of the political system, the population of our country registers one of the largest percentages in Europe of support for Russia in its conflict with NATO.Wars always accelerate developments, they accelerate history. In many countries of the Balkans and Europe, changes and variations are taking place in the beliefs of the population.We must manage to respond to these new tasks.
Latin America has already shown the way by delivering strong blows to the empire. The Union envisioned by Simón Bolívar, José Martí’s Our America, the beacon of Fidel Castro’s Cuban Revolution, and the hope of Hugo Chávez’s Bolivarian Revolution, have lit the way across the globe.”Our America” and the “Patria Grante” (Great Fatherland) of Latin America are the opposite of Balkanization.Let’s draw inspiration and experience from this continent.The World Anti-Imperialist Platform is a promising perspective for our movement and must raise its organization and action to the required level in each country, as well as the international coordination, up to the level of an international anti-imperialist center.In our view, the next steps – among others – could be:
· Codification of the Platform’s positions on the war in Ukraine and on US and NATO aggression, to facilitate distribution.
· Create national departments in as many countries as possible.
· Creation of an Alternative Information Communication Center that will produce printed and electronic material in as many languages as possible.
· Construction of a dissemination, distribution and exchange network of the produced material and its reproduction in social networks and alternative media.

*Balkanization: pejorative geopolitical term originally used to describe the process of fragmenting or dividing a region or state into smaller, ethnically homogeneous parts or states that are generally mutually hostile and uncooperative. The term arose from the root of the emergence of new states in the Balkan Peninsula after the Balkan Wars (1912–1913), and gained relevance again with the Yugoslav Wars that led to the breakup of Yugoslavia between the end of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century.

Desde los Balcanes, desde Grecia, los amigos y las amigas de la “Plataforma por la Independencia” recibimos con entusiasmo y alivio el establecimiento de la Plataforma Antiimperialista Mundial en París. Seguimos con mucho interés la continuación de la misma en Belgrado y hemos presentado la Plataforma Internacional con un evento en Atenas. Hemos leído también con mucho interés la Declaración de los (17) participantes en el 22 Encuentro Internacional de Partidos Comunistas y Obreros en La Habana, en octubre de 2022.
Ahora estamos aquí, en la tierra de Bolívar y Chávez, en la casa grande de los antiimperialistas de todo el mundo.
Desde hace años, el Gobierno Bolivariano, el presidente constitucional Nicolás Maduro, el PSUV y el GPP, invierten esfuerzos y recursos en la coordinación y organización de las fuerzas antiimperialistas de todo el mundo. Tuvimos la suerte de asistir a través de las organizaciones solidarias de nuestro país a dos de los encuentros internacionales que se realizaron en Caracas.
Al Encuentro Internacional Antiimperialista (enero 2020) y al Congreso Bicentenario (enero 2021) y hubo otros, no fueron los únicos. Aunque el alma de la lucha antiimperialista se encuentra en los campos de batalla en Ucrania, el corazón del movimiento antiimperialista late en Caracas durante muchos años.Por tanto, hoy podemos decir que estamos acá, en nuestro espacio natural.

En los Balcanes nació el término “Balcanización”* que definió a nuestros países y movimientos. Además, prácticamente ninguno de nuestros países ha logrado o mantenido su independencia nacional. Prácticamente estamos luchando por nuestra Segunda Independencia (como la mayoría de los países de “Nuestra América”) que el imperio nos ha robado al imponer su dominio a través de gobiernos serviles y de la organización criminal OTAN.
Nuestro país conquistó su independencia nacional en el año 1827 después de una Revolución contra el Imperio Otomano. Con la excepción de su primer gobernador, llamado Ιoanis Kapodistrias que fue un exdiplomático ruso ( fue asesinado), la dependencia del país por las grandes potencias comenzó desde aquel entonces y continúa hasta el día de hoy.
En el territorio griego existen grandes bases militares de OTAN, poe ejemplo en la ciudad fronteriza Alexandroupolis, y al puerto Souda en la isla de Creta. Prácticamente todo el aparato político y militar está incorporado a través de la OTAN al servicio de EEUU. El embajador Yanqui en Atenas es el verdadero primer ministro del país.
Además, como se vio en la última guerra entre Rusia y OTAN en Ucrania, todos los partidos en nuestro pais estan a favor de OTAN, directamente o a través de la supuesta neutralidad y equidistancia de los beligerantes.
Μientras existe este escenario OTANista en las fuerzas politicas, la población de nuestro país registra uno de los mayores porcentajes a favor Rusia en su conflicto con OTAN.
Las guerras siempre aceleran los hechos, la historia. En muchos países de los Balcanes y de Europa se están produciendo cambios y variaciones en los criterios de la población.
Debemos cumplir estas nuevas tareas.
América Latina ya ha mostrado el camino, asestando poderosos golpes al imperio.
La Unión de la region que soño Simón Bolívar, Nuestra América de José Martí, el faro de la Revolución Cubana de Fidel Castro y la esperanza de la Revolución Bolivariana de Hugo Chávez, han iluminado el camino en todo el planeta. “Nuestra América” y “Patria Grante[ en América Latina son lo opuesto a la balcanización.
Saquemos inspiración y experiencia de este continente.
La Plataforma Mundial Antiimperialista es una perspectiva promisoria para nuestro movimiento y debe elevar su organización y acción en cada país a los niveles requeridos, así como la coordinación internacional, a los niveles de un centro antiimperialista internacional.
Según nuestro pundo de vista, los pasos siguentes, entre otros, podrían ser:
· Codificación para facilitar la difusión de las posiciones de la Plataforma sobre la guerra en Ucrania y la agresión de EE.UU. y OTAN.
· Creación de departamentos nacionales de la Plataforma en tantos países como sea posible.
· Organizar y establecer un Centro de Comunicación e Información Alternativa que producirá material impreso y electrónico en tantos idiomas como sea posible.
· Articulación de una red de distribución e intercambio del material producido y su dispersión en redes sociales y medios alternativos.
