On March 24th, the musical troupe ‘Hope Bird’ singing for the reunification of Korea, attended the ceremony for commemorating the 25th anniversary of NATO bombing Yugoslavia at the Eternal Flame, Belgrade.
The Eternal Flame in Belgrade is the monument dedicated to the military and civilian casualties resulting from the NATO bombing of Yugoslavia in 1999 and the symbol of the resistance of the Serbian nation to the attack.
The moderator from the League of Communist Youth of Yugoslavia (SKOJ) started with the remark “In 2022, the war in Ukraine broke out in Eastern Europe, in 2023 the war in Palestine in the Middle East and they are still ongoing, and in 2024, we are at the corner of the wars in South Korea and Taiwan in East Asia. In this current situation, the World Anti-Imperialist Platform, together with Hope Bird, a representative anti-imperialist musical troupe in South Korea, will organize the performances in Europe, starting with Serbia, where NATO bombing had been carried out.
Hope Bird performed the songs “Song of May 3” and “Listen, Yankee” to pay tribute to the victims of NATO bombings and to raise the determination of the struggle against imperialism.
The audience came out on stage to place medals to the each members of the group.
The speaker of the Platform strongly said “History remembers the genocide committed by NATO here in Yugoslavia 25 years ago. That is why the People’s Democracy Party of South Korea is here today on behalf of the World Anti-Imperialism Platform.”, and “Imperialism will surely be destroyed by the united struggle of the people of the world. We will accelerate the realization of a new society where the working people of the world are the master” she added.
After concluding the event with remarks by Aleksandar Banjanac, the General Secretary of the New Communist Party of Yugoslavia, the participants took a photo in front of the monument to strengthen their anti-imperialist resolve.
