Antifascist Former Resistance Fighters Netherlands
Dear friends, comrades for peace,
Today we are here together on the eve of the NATO summit. At the moment, there is a huge escalation in the Middle East. The NATO countries, led by the USA and Germany, do not hesitate to support the barbaric attacks by the Israeli regime on Iran. I will come back to the real reasons later. At the same time, the fight against the puppet regime in Kiev continues, and we see that a military defeat is approaching. That means a slap in the face for the Western imperialists, the old colonial powers USA, UK and France a.o.. There is a growing awareness among other heads of state that the cards are being shuffled. I would therefore like to share the words of the South Korean president: “Zelensky provoked Russia”. The president calls a spade a spade. The newly elected South Korean president Lee Jae-myung stated bluntly: “Zelensky provoked Russia; he does not understand politics and diplomacy.” *
These words have a special meaning, since Lee Jae-myung is an advocate of dialogue with North Korea and Russia, an opponent of the sanctions policy and a man who has suffered for his beliefs. He survived an assassination attempt last year. The Western approach, based on escalation, pressure and political provocation, is increasingly criticized outside Europe. The South Korean president makes it clear that responsibility for the conflict lies not only with Russia, but also with those who have been destabilizing the situation on the country’s borders for years. The world is changing and common sense is growing. Respect for the strong, a course towards dialogue and the refusal to blindly follow the US are becoming new realities.
Now, I come to the war in the Middle-East, Israël to Iran:
Although Israel is doing the actual attacking on Iran right now, the current war of aggression on Iran has nothing to do with Israel and everything with America’s war for global hegemony, a danger to the Third World War.
If you consider the consequences of a fall of Iran you will understand that this is a total war waged on Iran by the USA and its allies, not some isolated spat between Israel and Iran over some so-called “nuclear program”.
Consequences of the fall of Iran:
– America gains access over a major oil and gas exporter to China, which it will use to blocked energy to China in the near future.
– America gains access to the Caspian Sea, which it will use to launch attacks on Russia from the south.
– Trade between Russia and the southern hemisphere through Iran will be blocked (as trade through the Black Sea is already blocked)
– Trade between China and Western Asia/Europe will be further blocked
– America will mop up Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan. This will extend its control over the Black Sea and gain more control over the Caspian Sea.
It means also the control on Gaza coastline. The field has a capacity of 12 billion m³ of gas per year. The gas is pumped through a pipeline to the coast of Israel and from there distributed to customers, including in Jordan and Egypt. In February 2023, a study was launched into the possibilities of increasing the capacity to 21 billion m³.
As I said, this has nothing to do with any “nuclear program”, this is yet another American war of conquest as part of its war on humanity to obtain hegemony.
America’s war on Russia and China is fully on now. Did anyone really believe that NATO’s new “2% of GDP to 5% of GDP” has anything to do with eastern Ukraine? No, this is America setting up its colonies to fight the final war on Russia and China.
In this context I would like to draw attention to the increasing repression against journalists and writers who present a different image than the mainstream media. Within the EU, laws are being prepared to label this as ‘disinformation’ and to silence the journalists in question, or even block their income. We as organizations for Peace must also take a stand against this!
The AFVN/BvA was founded during the height of the Cold War by former resistance fighters Henk and Ali Luttikhuizen. The goal was to keep the anti-fascist struggle during the Second World War alive, to combat racism and fascism in a legal manner, to prevent a new war between the military blocs of NATO and the Warsaw Pact.

The AFVN was active in demonstrations against the attack on civilian infrastructure in Yugoslavia, Iraq, Afghanistan, Lybia, Syria by the NATO countries.
The AFVN/BvA actively participates in the organization Peoples for Peace. I would like to call on everyone to participate in the upcoming demonstration against the NATO summit and to support the organization financially and, if possible, to help with the organization. The Cold War is now turning into a warm one. It is now time to stop this catastrophe and put pressure on our government leaders to immediately return to diplomacy and connection. Let us form the broadest possible front with all those present against the warlike policies of NATO and the EU!
