A Just Russia, SOVINTERN Text for Nairobi Conference

Dear comrades, participants of the global anti-imperialist platform, I greet you both personally and on behalf of the large collective of members of the SOVINTERN, a new global network that emerged in Moscow just a few weeks ago.

In my greeting, addressing all of you, I would like to say that we are in solidarity with you on practically all the issues raised within your forum. However, I would like to add that our position, and Russia’s position as a whole, is based on the fact that we view ongoing events in a realistic and consistent way—we see them in the same way.

If we are talking about the fact that imperialism, represented by a number of states such as France, the United States of America, and several other European countries, continues today to pursue a policy of a unipolar world—claiming that all reserves of natural resources and all assets connected with the potential development of African states, by definition, belong to European countries and the United States of America—then this is a profound misconception.

We clearly understand that countries such as Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger have demonstrated the utmost will and determination in defending their sovereignty.

This is not only about the gold and foreign exchange reserves that for a long time were held in France and did not bring any positive results to the economies of the aforementioned states. It is also about the fact that this direction—connected with the return of these reserves and the restoration of their right to economic development—has served as a foundation for why today Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger are leaders in the movement to defend the sovereignty not only of their own states, but also of their neighbors.

When we speak about international imperialism, we should not forget that an entire bloc of institutions, such as the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, continue today to pursue policies that infringe upon the national interests of many states—not only on the African continent, but also in many countries located in Latin America and Asia.

If we elaborate on all of this, we must say that Russia supports the efforts of states that are fighting against imperialism and forming a truly genuine anti-imperialist platform, supporting them in all aspects—whether in ideology, political responses to global events, economic cooperation, or, most importantly, in providing the necessary expertise in areas that ensure the protection of the national interests of our partners and the states participating in this anti-imperialist platform.

If we speak about Russia’s position in defending the interests of many countries that are now already subjected to physical—namely military—pressure from the United States and its allies, I can say that here as well we not only defend these countries through appropriate voting in international institutions, but also by shaping public opinion and organizing it in defense of the interests of states that have been subjected to aggression by Europe, America, and their affiliates.

Speaking about Russia and our comrades on the anti-imperialist platform, I can say one thing: today, the SOVINTERN and the party ‘A Just Russia,’ which I represent as the First Deputy Head of this party in Russia, are your allies and a reliable support.

I wish you successful work and prosperity.”
