Delegations of the World Anti-Imperialist Platform visited “Zamora” commune

On March 7, delegations of the Platform visited Zamora commune, located in Miranda, near Caracas (the capital of Venezuela). In Zamora, housing construction is being carried out following the Hugo Chávez’s program to provide 3 million houses, “Gran Misión Vivienda Venezuela(GMVV)”.

Meeting with commune people and international delegations was held at the school at the entrance of the commune. The people explained to delegations about the present situation and the further vision and aim of Zamora commune. 

There are 8 schools, 5 production area, over 4 thousands households and 12 thousands residents in Zamora. The people of the commune emphasized that “Hugo Chávez is alive in our heart”, “We’ve been trained by Hugo Chávez”. Additionally, they remarked that “they are learning how to resist against the foreign power” through the commune construction, further that “the commune is more than it is shown.” 

The president of the commune council stressed that “we welcome you to commune. Here is the starting point of the project of Chávez” and “despite the difficulties caused by the U.S. imperialist economic blockade, we will continue to build under the banner of the Bolivarian Revolution.”

The mayor of the commune, Jonathan Herrera, said “welcoming the international delegation’s visit to our commune, stregthening commune, a people’s organization, is our promise to Chávez” and highlighted “we must fight with conviction until we complete the GMVV and win”, “the Venezuelan government and our people will stand together against the anti-imperialist struggle.” 

On behalf of the international delegation, coordinator of the Corean International Forum and organizer of the World Anti-Imperialist Platform, Cho Deok-won delivered a commemorating speech, “Hugo Chávez’s Shining Achievements”. After his speech, the slogans “Viva Chávez!”, “Viva Venezuela!” and “¡El pueblo unido jamás será vencido! (People united will never be defeated!)” were chanted. 

Then the international delegation toured the housing construction site and ended the day with a commemorative photo with the people and students of the commune, holding the banner “Stop US meddling in Other Countries’ Internal Affairs!”
