PARTY OF COMMUNISTS USA STATEMENT ON RECENT EVENTS IN PALESTINE

The recent counteroffensive waged by Palestinian forces against Israel, which has come to be known as the “Al-Aqsa Flood”, must not be viewed as an act of aggression from the Palestinian people. The attack has emerged out of a context of increasing aggression from certain sects of the Israeli apartheid state. The Israeli government has increasingly come under the influence of messianic Zionist elements which have codified Palestinians as second-class citizens. The oppression of the Palestinian people under Israeli aggression has reached a critical point and this has precipitated the events which are now occurring.

The current situation is entering a turbulent and dangerous phase. Right now, the security situation in the region is deteriorating. The humanitarian crisis that will emerge from a siege and a ground operation on the Gaza strip will be of a proportion that has not been seen in decades, with the potential to displace hundreds of thousands of people. This conflict will draw in other countries from the region and can escalate to a broader regional conflict that will once again bring in imperialist forces to seek to dominate the Middle East and its oil.

Over the past 50 years, millions of Palestinians in Gaza have been caged on a small strip of land that has rightly been described as the largest open-air prison in the world. All previous governments in Israel have weaponized aid, medicine, and humanitarian relief. As was seen under the Nazis in the historic Warsaw Ghetto of World War II, the Israelis monitor how many calories of food are allowed into the Gaza strip with the aim of keeping the residential Palestinians on a near-starvation diet. The Warsaw Ghetto Uprising occurred when the imprisoned Jews caught wind that the German Nazi occupation was intending to liquidate the ghetto, and Palestinians have been driven to a similar level of desperation.

Now, the Israeli Defense Minister has said, “I have ordered a complete siege on the Gaza Strip. There will be no electricity, no food, no fuel, everything is closed. We are fighting human animals and we are acting accordingly.” Like in the Warsaw Ghetto of 1943, no food or water will be allowed into the “Gaza ghetto”.

As Americans, we recognize that our own government in Washington, D.C. bears responsibility for this escalation, having provided $3.3 billion, in this year alone, in military aid to Israel.

For years, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has been leading his country towards fascism. This has been seen with the curbing of civil liberties, as exemplified by the passing and implementation of the Nation- State Law, which has declared that only the Jewish people can exercise self-determination within Israel and the occupied territories. The Netanyahu government has also changed laws to circumvent their Supreme Court, and intensify the occupation and apartheid regime. As with the Ukraine, the Party of Communists USA fights against all forms of fascism, and we say “¡No Pasarán! They shall not pass!”

The Party of Communists USA offers its fraternal support to the Communist parties in Israel and Palestine. We call to action all fraternal Communist and workers’ parties to struggle for peace and the immediate cessation of hostilities. We also throw our full support behind the Palestinian people for a just resolution that includes their own sovereign state with 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

JEW AND PALESTINIAN UNITE AGAINST APARTHEID FASCISM!

FORWARD TO A FREE PALESTINE!
