Towards the World Anti-Imperialist Platform,
the Locomotive of World Anti-Imperialist Revolution

The single most important theoretical task facing anti-imperialists today is that of correctly characterising both the ongoing war in eastern Europe and the imminent wars in east Asia (south Korean and Taiwan). Without a correct assessment of what kind of wars they are, we are unable to form a correct policy in response; we are unable to guide the masses in their struggle to defeat imperialism either locally or globally.

In order to make this vital assessment, we need to look at the wars in their context. We must note the history from which they developed, the policy that was pursued by both sides before war broke out, and the nature of the forces involved on each side.

When we try to do this, however, we are faced with a deep controversy: how should we characterise the nature of the economies and societies of two major participants in these conflicts – the Russian Federation and the People’s Republic of China?

The controversy that rages is this: are Russia and China imperialist powers, engaged in wars of dominance, colonisation and rivalry over the control of superprofits? Is war between the USA on one side and Russia and/or China on the other like WW1, an interimperialist war for the redivision of the global spoils? Or are Russia and China fighting justifiable wars of national liberation and/or self-defence?

Clearly, our policy in responding will be very different depending on the answer we give.

The ideologues of the USA and its allies would most certainly like us to believe that Russia and China are imperialist powers. They are working hard to try to persuade us that the workers have no side in this war – a conclusion that might not stop them opposing the war in general, but would certainly stop them from supporting any of the forces involved or helping workers to see through the propaganda of western media.

Unfortunately, we are handicapped in our efforts to come to a rational conclusion on this vital question by the plethora of distortions of socialist theory that have been spreading in our movement for decades – some purposefully planted by our class enemies, others resulting from theoretical mistakes made by revolutionaries in the past, and then transformed into dogmas that bear less and less relation to reality as time goes by. This abundance of ‘improvements to’ or ‘reapplications of’ socialist science – and of VI Lenin’s definition of imperialism in particular – has led to widespread confusion in the ranks of the socialist and anti-imperialist movements around the world.

Standing firmly on the side of those who have recognised that neither China nor Russia are imperialist powers, and that the workers of the world do indeed have a side in the war against US imperialism and its Nato allies, the World Anti-Imperialist Platform has been launched to coordinate the efforts of all those who genuinely desire to work for the defeat of imperialism.

As the global crisis of capitalism deepens and the imperialist war drive becomes more desperate, threatening to plunge much of the world in flames, the Platform has been formed to amplify the voices and unify and magnify the activities of all those struggling for the defeat of the USA-led Nato block. We hope, in this way, to bring clarity to workers everywhere and to make a meaningful contribution to this world-historic battle.

세계반제혁명의 기관차, 세계반제플랫포옴으로

현재 동유럽에서 진행중인 전쟁의 성격과 임박한 동아시아의 남코리아전과 대만전의 성격에 대해서 올바르게 규정하는 것이 현시기 세계반제세력의 공동실천과 결부되어 중요한 문제로 제기되고있다. 우크라이나전에는 그 전쟁의 성격과 러시아사회성격에 대한 쟁점이, 남코리아전과 대만전 역시 전쟁의 성격과 중국사회성격에 대한 쟁점 등이 있다. 아쉽게도 그에 대한 잘못된 이론이 유포되고있어 공동의 실천을 위한 전제로서 이에 대한 과학적인 해명이 더욱 절실히 요구된다.

2차세계대전전후 세계가 경험했던 역사적인 대격변기에 버금가는 새로운 대변혁기가 예견되는 오늘, 국제주의세력은 이 대변혁기의 노동자·민중의 운명을 책임져야할 가장 중요한 정치적 임무를 안고있다. 세계반제플랫포옴은 당면한 세계반제통일전선과 세계반제공동행동을 조직하는데서 기관차의 역할을 수행함으로써 역사적인 반제투쟁에서 전략적인 기여를 할 것이다.

Ο σωστός προσδιορισμός της φύσης του συνεχιζόμενου πολέμου στην Ανατολική Ευρώπη και του χαρακτήρα των επικείμενων πολέμων στην Ανατολική Ασία, του πολέμου της Νότιας Κορέας και της Ταϊβάν γίνεται το μείζον ζήτημα σε σχέση με την κοινή εμπειρία των παγκόσμιων αντιιμπεριαλιστικών δυνάμεων σήμερα. Όσον αφορά τον πόλεμο της Ουκρανίας, εγείρεται το ζήτημα του χαρακτήρα της ρωσικής κοινωνίας, και όσον αφορά τον πόλεμο της Νότιας Κορέας και τον πόλεμο της Ταϊβάν, ο χαρακτήρας της κινεζικής κοινωνίας είναι επίσης το ερώτημα που τίθεται σε σχέση με τη φύση των πολέμων. Δυστυχώς, επειδή έχει διαδοθεί μια λανθασμένη θεωρία όσον αφορά αυτά τα ζητήματα, καθίσταται πιο επιτακτική η ανάγκη επιστημονικής αποσαφήνισής τους ως προϋπόθεση για τις κοινές πρακτικές των αντιιμπεριαλιστικών δυνάμεων.

Σήμερα, που προβλέπεται μία νέα περίοδος μεγάλων αλλαγών, η οποία έπεται της ιστορικής περιόδου των μεγάλων αλλαγών, που βίωσε ο κόσμος γύρω από τον 2ο παγκόσμιο πόλεμο, στις διεθνιστικές δυνάμεις τίθεται το σπουδαιότερο καθήκον της ανάληψης της ευθύνης για τη μοίρα των εργαζομένων και του λαού σε αυτή την περίοδο των μεγάλων αλλαγών. Η Παγκόσμια Αντιιμπεριαλιστική Πλατφόρμα αναλαμβάνει αμέσως το ρόλο της ατμομηχανής για την οργάνωση του παγκόσμιου αντιιμπεριαλιστικού ενιαίου μετώπου και της παγκόσμιας αντιιμπεριαλιστικής κοινής δράσης με σκοπό να συμβάλει στρατηγικά στον ιστορικό αντιιμπεριαλιστικό αγώνα.
