On May 1, ahead of Greece general election, D. Koutsoumbas, General Secretary the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Greece, had his interview with “Mega” in front of the Headquarter of its party, equating the Russia’s anti-Nato anti-fascist Special Military Operation on Ukraine in 2022 with the Nato’s attack on Yugoslavia in 1999.
He remarked that “However, Zelensky did not break into Russia, Putin broke into Ukraine. Yes, Zelensky did not invade Russia, but he did invade and kill with the Azov battalions thousands of people who were in the Russian minority in Ukraine… Zelensky did indeed kill people in the Donetsk regions, in the Lugansk regions, people all these years, there was a real war going on, the Russian minority there had no rights. But that does not mean that Putin, Russia is justified in intervening and waging war to supposedly liberate them, because Mr Putin used the same arguments that NATO and the USA used in Yugoslavia. Remember, they said at the time, “Milosevic is oppressing minorities in Yugoslavia, we break in, we go to war, we kill Serbs and we kick Milosevic out, we take him to jail, to liberate Serbia.” As if we are not ashamed, I say, in the 21st century. It is one thing to negotiate, it is another thing to discuss and resolve such issues.”
“The most ideal thing at this moment would be if the Russian people overthrew Putin and took power themselves and stopped the wars the ideal would be if the Ukrainian people overthrew Zelensky and took power themselves”, he added.

“Πάντως δεν μπούκαρε ο Ζελένσκι στη Ρωσία, μπούκαρε ο Πούτιν στην Ουκρανία.
Ναι, ο Ζελένσκι δεν μπούκαρε στην Ρωσία, όμως μπούκαρε και σκότωνε με τα τάγματα Αζόφ χιλιάδες ανθρώπους οι οποίοι ήταν στη ρώσικη μειονότητα μέσα στην Ουκρανία… Ο Ζελένσκι όντως σκότωνε, στις περιοχές του Ντονιέτσκ, στις περιοχές του Λουγκάνσκ, ανθρώπους όλα αυτά τα χρόνια, γινόταν κανονικός πόλεμος, η μειονότητα εκεί η ρώσικη δεν είχε δικαιώματα. Αυτό όμως δε σημαίνει ότι δικαιολογείται ο Πούτιν, η Ρωσία να κάνει επέμβαση και πόλεμο για να τους απελευθερώσει δήθεν, διότι ο κος Πούτιν χρησιμοποίησε τα ίδια επιχειρήματα που είχε χρησιμοποιήσει το ΝΑΤΟ, οι ΗΠΑ στη Γιουγκοσλαβία. Θυμόσαστε, λέγαν τότε, “ο Μιλόσεβιτς καταπιέζει μειονότητες στη Γιουγκοσλαβία, μπουκάρουμε μέσα, κάνουμε πόλεμο, σκοτώνουμε τους Σέρβους και διώχνουμε τον Μιλόσεβιτς, τον πάμε φυλακή, για να απελευθερώσουμε τη Σερβία”. Σα δε ντρεπόμαστε, λέω εγώ, τον 21ο αιώνα. Είναι άλλο οι διαπραγματεύσεις, οι συζητήσεις που πρέπει να επιλύουν τέτοια ζητήματα.”
“Ο ρώσικος λαός να ανέτρεπε τον Πούτιν και να έπαιρνε ο ίδιος την εξουσία και να σταματούσε τους πολέμους. Το ιδανικό θα ήταν ο ουκρανικός λαός να ανέτρεπε τον Ζελένσκι και έπαιρνε ο ίδιος την εξουσία και να έφτιαχνε μια νέα κοινωνία.”
