On April 4th, Hope Bird, an artistic troupe that sings about the reunification of Korea, performed an anti-imperialism and anti-war performance in Frankfurt, Germany. 

The World Anti-imperialist Platform is touring with the South Korea’s symbolic anti-imperialist and anti-US musical troupe, Hope Bird. It started in Belgrade on Mar. 23, which was bombed by NATO 25 years ago, and continue to Bruxelles (Belgium), Frankfurt (Germany), London (UK) and several cities in France. 

The performance attracted the attention of many people passing through the streets of Frankfurt. It was met with enthusiasm, with fists raised in support. 

Hope Bird introduced a song that captured the history of the 1980 Gwangju Uprising. They said that it is a tragic but proud history of Korean struggle and that it is the task of the Korean people to reveal the truth. 

After the performance with red flag, they sang “Turn the earth and the sky over”, “Song of May 2”, “Song of May 3”, “Fly high, dove”, “March for the beloved”, “Under this mountains and streams”, “Listen Yankee”, “El Pueblo Unido Jamás Será Vencido”, “Do you hear the people sing?” and “Bella Ciao”. 

The World Anti-Imperialist Platform introduced that Hope Bird is struggling with European people who against imperialism by this tour and remarked that “The World Anti-Imperialist Platform will stand firmly in solidarity with the people of the world who hate imperialism and love peace, form and strengthen the global anti-imperialist front, and end the common enemy of the people of the world, US imperialism, NATO, and the fascist puppets. The World Anti-Imperialist Platform is convinced that with the power of the European people, we can dismantle NATO, the imperialist war alliance of aggression, and defeat the imperialist aggression at the root of the war through the joint struggle of progressive humanity. We will continue to move forward for a new victory of the people’s democracy under the scientific belief that “People of the world, unite” and “The people united must win. The final victory of the anti-imperialist camp is just and inevitable.”

Finally, they chanted “Immediately disband the imperialist war machine NATO!”, “Stop the imperialist drive to war!”, “Withdraw all US foreign bases!” and “The united people must win!”
