[AFVN]
The AFVN (Anti-Fascist Former Resistance Fighters Netherlands / League of Anti-Fascists) has received with indignation news of the violent detention of an international delegation from the World Anti-Imperialist Platform (WAP) in Nairobi, Kenya.
On May 12, members of the WAP delegation, including party chair from Great Britain, South Korea, and Greece, were arrested and mistreated by the military and police. This occurred during a peaceful protest march against the “Africa-France Summit.”
The AFVN condemns this unacceptable violation of the right to freedom of expression and peaceful protest. We demand the immediate and unconditional release of all arrested comrades.
We stand in solidarity with the WAP, the Communist Party Marxist Kenya, and all victims of imperialist repression in Africa and worldwide.
No silence, no cooperation. Solidarity until victory!

Kenyan Military and Police Violently Detain the Platform Delegation during March against “Africa-France Summit” – PlatformNews
Editorial Note: The WAP is no stranger to the struggle against imperialism. It played an active role during the resistance against the NATO summit in The Hague (June 2025), organized by Peoples for Peace, and succeeded in proving its position by challenging the international legal order. The violent actions of the Kenyan regime fit into a pattern of imperialist repression against anyone who opposes the exploitation of Africa by former colonial powers.

Workers’ Party of Chile demands the release of the delegates of the World Anti-Imperialist Platform in Kenya
The Workers’ Party of Chile demands the immediate release of the delegates of the World Anti-Imperialist Platform detained in Kenya by the regime of William Ruto, following the violent repression exercised against demonstrations held within the framework of the 10th Anti-Imperialist Conference and in rejection of the “Africa Forward” Summit.
Among those detained are Lee Sanghun, former president of the People’s Democratic Party of South Korea; Joti Brar, chair of the Communist Party of Great Britain (Marxist-Leninist); Dimitrios Patelis, founding member of the Revolutionary Theory Group of Greece; and Song Danbee, director of the International Department of the People’s Democratic Party of South Korea. All of them are part of the international delegation of the World Anti-Imperialist Platform and were participating in legitimate and peaceful political activities.
We strongly condemn the deployment of military and police forces by the Kenyan government to suppress popular protest and persecute international anti-imperialist leaders. These actions confirm the authoritarian and repressive character of the William Ruto regime, which is subordinate to the interests of Western imperialism and international financial institutions.
The “Africa Forward” Summit constitutes a new phase of imperialist penetration in Africa, deepening the interference of the US, France, and Great Britain over the African peoples. The designation of Kenya as a major non-NATO ally of the USA and the strengthening of the foreign military presence in the country transform the Kenyan government into a platform for imperialist domination over the continent.
Since 2024, the William Ruto regime has intensified the repression against popular, trade union, and opposition organizations in the context of mobilizations against the IMF, neoliberalism, and economic plunder, leaving more than 130 dead, hundreds detained, and numerous disappeared.
The Labor Party of Chile expresses its total solidarity with the detained comrades, with the World Anti-Imperialist Platform, and with the Kenyan people facing repression and imperialist interventionism.
We demand:
The immediate and unconditional release of all detainees.
The cessation of repression against popular and anti-imperialist organizations in Kenya.
Respect for democratic freedoms and the right to protest.
The end of imperialist interference and foreign military presence in Africa.
Internationalist solidarity with the peoples in struggle!
[PARTISAN QUÉBÉCOIS]
On May 11 and 12 in Nairobi, Kenya, multiple communist and anti-imperialist activists were violently arrested by Kenyan police and military following a peaceful demonstration denouncing the « Africa-France Summit, » organized by French imperialists. Among those arrested are members of the Marxist Communist Party – Kenya, the Communist Party of Great Britain (ML), the People’s Democracy Party (Republic of Korea), as well as members of the international delegation of the Pan-African Summit Against Imperialism (PASAI). Among those arrested are members of the delegation of the World Anti-Imperialist Platform, an international organization of which we are part of.
Le Partisan québécois condemns this violent attack against our African and international comrades, upon whom batons and tear gas were used during peaceful demonstrations. We demand from the Ruto regime, lapdog of the imperialist Macron, the immediate release of our comrades illegally arrested by the police and military.
Le Partisan québécois reaffirms its unwavering support for Africa in the face of imperialism and neocolonialism by European and Western powers. European imperialists and their African compradors fear the will of the African peoples to break the chains of neocolonialism, and will use every means available, violent or otherwise, to suppress this movement. We must therefore redouble our efforts in the face of this new imperialist offensive.
In the words of Che and Thomas Sankara: Homeland or death, we shall overcome!
